Tyler's 2nd basketball game

This game was a little tougher for the team. Both teams played great defense – it took almost 3 minutes before someone scored. Tyler’s team never took the lead until it counted – the final few minutes of the game. They won 20-14.

We can only assume Tyler is taking in everything the coach is telling him.

Tyler does really well with blocking his guy.

Katlyn swimming sectionals

Katlyn had swimming sectionals this past Saturday. She did ok but unfortunately didn't advance to districts. She had a good year considering she hasn't swam competitively since we were in PA back in 2005. Each swim meet she would drop at least 2 seconds from her time. As far as we are concerned she will be swimming for the high school all 4 years. She loves being in the water - she just hates the meets. Here are a couple of pictures.

In this picture Katlyn is on the block in the last lane.

Off she goes

She is in the last lane next to the wall and if you look closely you will see she was off to a great start.

Finally a close up.

Here she is going off the block for her 100 free.

Now with swimming and bowling over she is just patiently waiting for softball tryouts. Will keep you posted on the outcome of those.

Tyler's 1st basketball game

Tyler decided to give basketball a try this year. He had his first game on Saturday. It's funny to look at the difference in sizes of each boy (they are all in 5th grade and surprisingly he isn't the shortest one on the team). They seem to have everyting pretty organized. Each boy wears an arm band of a certain color. The boy on the other team that has the same color as you is the kid you guard. That way the kids are evenly matched. Wasn't sure how well the team would do since so many practices were cancelled due to the weather - but they won 22-14.

Here's Tyler and his basketball team discussing strategy before the game started.
Tyler is the one with his back to us throwing a block on the other guy.
Looks like he is a runner instead of a basketball player.

Taking a much needed break.

Making a Snowman

The kids finally got outside today to build a snowman. The temperature actually reached 40. Talk about a heat wave! They did a good job making the bottom and when it came time to put the middle up it took all of them - Katlyn, James, Tyler, Hunter (our neighbor) and even Dave. As you can tell from the final picture he is a funny shaped snowman. And yes his arms are pieces of wood. That was the only thing James could find.

Snow and more snow

Back on the 28th we got more snow on top of the 10-12 inches that had already fallen earier in the month. Here is Katlyn goofing off after helping clean off the driveway (yes James & Tyler helped too).
